About Dinja Waħda
Dinja Waħda is BirdLife Malta's flagship environmental education programme in schools since 1994, run in collaboration with the Education Directorate.
Dinja Waħda in primary schools carries BirdLife Malta's vision of connecting children with nature, from Kindergarten to Year 6, giving them the skills to improve nature around them.
In recent years, BirdLife Malta's education team has reviewed the Dinja Waħda programme in line with developments in the education sector, changes in society, and suggestions from teachers. A new Action Guide was launched in 2021, containing activities and resources that align with current Learning Outcomes, offering opportunities for both students and teachers to enjoy, learn and connect with nature.

Get Started with Dinja Waħda in your school
Once you login, you will find different topics that you can do with your class in your home page. Each topic has a progression of one to three activities that have been planned to build up the pupils' knowledge side-by-side with direct observations and action for nature.
You can choose as many topics as you want, but any topic you start should be fully covered. Partially covering a topic would defeat the aim of the programme to integrate knowledge, values, skills and have regular connection with nature.
Many of the activities within the topics have been designed to match a seasonal cycle: autumn/winter/spring/pre-summer. Hence, the first topic you see will be ideal for the first term, and so on. Where seasonal match is essential, it is mentioned in the activity.

Dinja Waħda Accreditation
Dinja Waħda has been officially accredited by the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education as follows:
- Dinja Waħda Early Years Award Programme (MQF Level 1) from Kinder 1 to Year 2
- Dinja Waħda Juniors Award Programme (MQF Level 2) from Year 3 to Year 6
With this accreditation, children completing Year 2 and Year 6 after four years of school engagement in Dinja Waħda (achieving a combination of Silver, Gold, and Platinum awards) will automatically be eligible for certification. Our Dinja Waħda platform will handle the administration effort, and in 2028, we’ll simply need the names of the students and presence list completing Year 2 and Year 6.
This milestone is not just about recognition. It’s about fostering growth, environmental education, and meaningful connections with nature.
