The Dinja Wahda Points and Awards System Explained

Points
  • Each Activity carries a pre-set, fixed amount of points.
  • Each Activity can be submitted only once per class.
  • Once an Activity is Submitted by the Teacher, it is then vetted by the Dinja Wahda team
  • When vetting, the Dinja Wahda Team can either assign the full points or ask for further details. In the case of the latter, partial points can be assigned at the discretion of the vetter.
  • Each Topic also carries a pre-set, fixed amount of points that are assigned automatically once all activities within the topic are submitted and succefully vetted.
  • Depending on the amount of Topics in a grade and Activities within them, the system automatically calculates the maximum points available for a class within a scholastic year.
  • The year group topics are used to calculate the points available for the school. Other general activities such as Nature School and Nature Watch are alternative activities that can be done instead of, or together with, year group topics. All points obtained from all activities done are counted towards the class's and the school's total amount. This system allows for more flexibility on the choice of the activities that can be done by teachers.
  • By submitting all activities with all of a year group's topics, or by submitting any general topics with equivalent number of points, a class is guranteed to obtain the full amount marks possible, subject to succesfull vetting. Obtaining more than 100% of the points is therefore possible if more activities are done.
Awards
  • The coordinator of the school is responsible for inputting the school's student population and setting up the school's grade and class structure correctly at the beginning of each scholastic year.

  • The amount of classes in a school is used to categorize the school as follows:
    • Small Sized School - up to 12 classes
    • Medium Sized School - up to 25 classes
    • Large Sized School - more than 25 classes

  • The grades and class structure are used to calculate the total possible points that can be obtained by the school within the scholastic year.

  • Only the 'standard' activities that are grade specific are used to calculate the points available for the school. Other general activities such as Nature School and Nature Watch are alternative activities that can be done instead, or together with, grade-specific topics. All points obtained from all activities done are counted towards the class's and the school's total amount. This system allows for more flexibility on the choice of the activities that can be done by teachers.

  • Awards are assigned based on the percentage of points obtained by the entire school as follows:
    • For Small Sized Schools:
      • Participation Certificate: 0% - 14% of points
      • Bronze Award: 15% - 24% of points
      • Silver Award: 25% - 44% of points
      • Gold Award: 45% - 69% of points
      • Platinum Award: 70% - 100% of points
    • For Medium Sized Schools:
      • Participation Certificate: 0% - 9% of points
      • Bronze Award: 10% - 19% of points
      • Silver Award: 20% - 39% of points
      • Gold Award: 40% - 64% of points
      • Platinum Award: 65% - 100% of points
    • For Large Sized Schools:
      • Participation Certificate: 0% - 4% of points
      • Bronze Award: 5% - 14% of points
      • Silver Award: 15% - 34% of points
      • Gold Award: 35% - 54% of points
      • Platinum Award: 55% - 100% of points

A system with different award criteria based on the size of the school ensures fairness across schools. This system is based on trust and is only fair if coordinators fill in their school details and setup based in a way that truly reflects the school structure. Random checks are made by the Dinja Wahda team to identify schools that have underdeclared classes and grades in order to reduce the amount of possible points.
